Role
The Safety Committee is made up of residents and owners who address safety concerns and issues at the Green and works to ensure that our community remains a safe place to live. In addition to hosting meetings with local law enforcement, the safety committee works to monitor the Village Green security force, and has been involved in projects such as evaluating and improving lighting within the complex and working with LAPD on removing homeless encampments.
  • We meet via Zoom on the second Wednesday of each month at 7pm. Representatives from LAPD and Treston Security attend the meetings and report on encounters/incidents/crimes both at the Village Green and in our surrounding neighborhoods.
  • The Safety Committee’s monthly meetings are unique in allowing owners and residents direct communication with our protection services: Treston Security and LAPD.
  • Representatives of the Safety Committee as well as Court Council regularly attend and report on meetings of LA’s ECWA (Empowerment Congress, West Area) neighborhood council; the LA Department of Transportation; CIRCLE TEAM (Crisis and Incident Response through Community; and  CPAB (Community Policing Advisory Board). 
  • The Committee remains involved in the extensive project to survey, improve and expand LED lighting in the complex parking areas, garages and walkways to and from patios and doors. Completion of the three pilot courts is anticipated in the near future, which will then serve as templates for the remaining courts.
  • Committee members submit action resolutions to the Board, compose requests for project proposals (RPF) as needed, and place notices and information in Highlights.

Trainings were held by Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) LA and Family Radio Service (FRS) for VG owners and residents on how to help yourself, your family, pets, and neighbors  during an earthquake, fire, power outage, or utility shutoff in a major disaster.
