A CHALK-FULL DISCUSSION:
Homeowner comments were dominated by parents of children in advance of a Board discussion surrounding the use of chalk on Village Green sidewalks. Citing child psychology, basic decency, and a desire to protect the youngest members of our community, parents pleaded with the Board to let their children be children, and to let them play.
The ensuing discussion by Board members was spirited and varied. Building on the letter that went to residents in 2023, Director Gila Brown submitted options for possible Handbook language that would require residents to clean up after themselves if their artwork was not drawn in front of their residence. After much discussion, during which several Board members expressed exasperation that they needed to issue a ruling at all, Ms. Brown withdrew her resolution.
FLOOD INSURANCE DECISION:
In response to residents’ requests for reimbursement for flood insurance premiums required by their lenders, Directors voted against reimbursing.
TREE WORK ORDERS ADDRESSED:
The Tree & Landscape Committee (TLC) alerted the Board of a backlog on tree maintenance. Manager Sherri Giles said a number of tasks had already been completed but needed to be closed out in the work order system. She noted that most of the remaining tasks were medium-priority projects. Given that the remaining 2024 tree care budget will be spent on high-priority trees, Ms. Giles said more funds would likely need to be allocated. She agreed to provide an estimate for the work for the next meeting.
