The Board Meeting was held January 27, with all Board directors present, as well as management, including the two new members of the staff, William Wallace, Facilities Manager, and Gemma Lopez, Assistant Manager.
Various upgrades to the VG Office were approved, including new chairs, carpeting, painting and lighting. Funds of $16,635 were approved. In addition, a new computer for the Facilities Manager and a team subscription for Adobe Acrobat and Creative suite were approved ($4,700).
SECOND FLOOR LANDINGS ASSESSED
Management and the Board sought to address a safety concern regarding certain landings for second floor units which are in need of repair. The landings have been examined and will be repaired in order of priority.
CLUBHOUSE IMPROVEMENTS WITH AD HOC CAFÉ FUNDS DISCUSSED
The Ad Hoc Café Group outlined refurbishment of the Clubhouse using the café funds raised. New lighting, fans, shades, and a possible upgrade to the hearth were all discussed and approved pending final design, at a cost of approximately $12,000.
CT 16 GARAGE STRUCTURE REPAIR
Facilities Manager Linda Pollari sought funds to repair damage for a garage structure in Ct 16. The funds, $24,500, were approved.
SHOT HOLE BORER TREATMENT
Landscape Manager George Hilder seeks to hire RPW Services to combat an infestation of a pest afflicting the property’s Sycamore trees. The shot hole borer, for which some trees were treated in 2022, have proven to be persistent, devastating tree populations throughout Los Angeles. Left untreated, said Hilder, they would ravage our urban forest. The funds, $95,000, were approved.
AD HOC FINANCE COMMITTEE ESTABLISHED
Treasurer Ashley Fondrevay proposed a committee to discuss and make recommendations on how financing options for the major infrastructure projects facing the property and other financial issues. The proposal was passed unanimously.

- On February 28, George Hilder will host a walk and talk tour of the property to discuss landscape issues.
- The Board will distribute guidelines and recommendations to all residents to address the ongoing issues with coyotes.
- To that end, the Board is seeking handbook language to ban the feeding of animals on the property.
- The Safety Committee will publish a ‘safety tips’ brochure to be distributed property wide.
