Village Green News Archive 2011 • April, 2011—Steven Keylon, resident and Board Director, started a new blog about the history of the Village Green. City votes to accept Village Green as a Mills Act property. 2010 • November 2010—Special Assessment election results: Owners rejected a proposal from the Board for a 20% special assessment over a period of 10 years to raise funds for reserve work. The vote was 155 for and 192 against. The Board will bring this proposal to owners again for a vote during the annual meeting and election in Feuruary, 2011. 
• October 26, 2010—We Have a New Manager!After a thorough search, the board is please to announce Peter C. Fay as our new general manager. He starts November 1. Peter has more than 15 years experience managing multi-family properties and has extensive experience managing capital projects. The magazine is published by the greater Los Angeles chapter of CAI (Community Associations Iinstitute), a non-profit organization that represents America's residential community associations. • July 27 2010: The Board approved appointment of John Keho to the Board, to fill the empty 9th position. • June 2010: Manager Robert Bonfiglio resigns. Learn more about the Mills Act on the L.A. City web site. • June, 2010: Learn about the La Cienega Boulevard Study, an initiative between L.A. County and the Cities of L.A., Inglewood and Culver City to imagine ways to improve traffic flow in the La Cienega corridor. • February 9, 2010: View the 2010 Annual Meeting Election results. 2009 • VG featured in an LA Times article: Village Green in Baldwin Hills: A utopia for laughter and living, September 19, 2009 • August 15, 2009—Board members Nat Hutton and Reba Glover resigned. On Sept 5, 2009 Daniel Frank and Joe Khoury were nominated to replace the two open seats based on the annual meeting election results. They accepted the nominations and joined the Board. • Unit Condition Survey—March 2009  VG Owners and residents: a survey will be delivered to you soon, which is part of a property condition assessment that will inform decisions about future repair and maintenance. The RAMP Committee's Mission Statement is to: 1. Actively discuss and explore the RAMP work facing Village Green. 2. Make recommendations to the Board on how to proceed. 3. Actively involve the Village Green Community in discussions. Read the article on the apartment therapy Web site. • LaCienega—Jefferson Exposition Line Station, Transit-Oriented District Plan On Saturday, June 9, 2007 there was a community workshop at the 'i Center for residents to learn more about the district's plans surrounding the LaCienega/Jefferson Station on the Exposition Rail Line. (RTF-181KB) • Report sewer odors. Call 311, or 1-866-44SEWER. The city established a Sewer Odor Control Advisory Committee (OAC) in 2002 to address odor problems after a lawsuit against the city. Learn more about the city's measures to control odors. • June 2006—The Cultural Landscape Foundation focuses on Village Green The Village Green (formerly called Baldwin Hills Village) is one of 18 historic landscapes from across the U.S. featured under The Cultural Landscape Foundation's Landslide Project, which highlights landscapes at risk and reports current issues in landscape preservation and interpretation. Read the report. (Link takes you to The Cultural Landscape Foundation's Web site) • April 24, 2006—New Property Manager Robert Bonfiglio, our new property manager, is here. Robert is a Certified Facilities Manager, has experience overseeing preventive maintenance programs, building overhead budgets, recycling programs and construction projects, and managing a Class A high-rise building. Robert is has worked for major motion picture studios and is interested in historic properties. Come into the office and welcome Robert aboard. • February 4th, 2006—at the Annual Meeting, 3 new Board directors were voted into office. Results are as follows: Pauline Carroll, 237 votes; Reba Glover, 228; Deborah Harris, 171; Sten Jonnsson, 74; Steven Keylon, 222; Michael King; 123, Robert Nicolais, 239. Pauline Carroll and Reba Glover were re-elected. Congratulations to new directors Deborah Harris, Steven Keylon and Robert Nicolais. Deborah Harris will serve one year, completing the unfinished 2-year term of Christopher Harris who resigned last November. • Jim Altschuler's last day as office manager was January 9, 2006. While the Board searches for a new office manager, Sherrie Giles will be interim manager. 2005 • November 2005—Two Board Members (Marie Fouche and Christopher Harris) resign. This will leave 5 positions open on the board for the February elections. One of the 5 elected directors will serve only one year. |
